National Chess Day Celebration and Tournament
Shelby County Chess invites all to join us for our annual National Chess Day Celebration and Scholastic Chess Tournament
Date: Saturday October 14, 2023
Location: Grace St. Luke's School-Anchor Center (250 Lemaster St)
Time: Registration begins at Noon. First Round begins at 1pm, All other rounds ASAP. (Estimated Finish 5:30pm)
Format: 4 Rounds Swiss G25; d5 (NO ELIMINATION!) Each player gets 25 minutes to complete their game.
Cost: $20 online by October 13th. $25 thereafter and on-site.
Sections: 5 Scholastic Sections
USCF Rated (Requires USCF Membership) Rated Over 900, Rated Under 900, Rated Under 500
Unrated Sections (No Membership required) Unrated Grades K-4, Unrated Grades 5-12
Prizes: All participants regardless of standing will receive a prize. The Top 3 players in each section will receive a Trophy.\

2023 Susan E Kantor TN State Scholastic Individual Championship Regional Qualifier
2023 Susan E Kantor Tennessee State Scholastic Individual Championship West TN Qualifier
This event is a qualifier hosted by Mid-South Chess in Conjunction with the Tennessee Chess Association. The top 8 players in each section will qualify to play in the State Championship on November 18th in Nashville!
Qualifier Date: Saturday November 4th
Location: Lausanne Collegiate School (1381 W Massey Rd in Memphis)
Time: On Site Registration begins at 7:30am and runs until 8:15am. All players must be checked in by 8:30 or they may not be paired for Round 1. First Round begins at 9:00am promptly. All other rounds ASAP Estimated finish is 4:00-4:30pm
Cost: $20 for all entries received online by November 1st. $30 thereafter and on-site
Format: 5 Rounds Swiss Tournament
(Note: An additional round may be added if a section has over 48 players)
Time Control: Rounds 1 and 2 are G30; d5 Rounds 3-5 are G45; d5
Sections:
Primary: Grades K-3
Elementary: Grades K-5
Middle School: Grades 6-8
High School: Grades 9-12
Note: As a qualifier, this tournament is not rated by USCF, so membership with both USCF and TCA is NOT REQUIRED to play the qualifier. Dues are required prior to the player participating in the State Finals.
Awards: Top 10 players in each section and the Top Under 800 and Top Unrated player in each section will receive a Trophy. All other players will receive a commemorative prize recognizing their participation in this event.
Tiebreakers: The top 8 players in each section will qualify for State Finals.
1st Place Ties: A g10; d0 Tiebreaker match will be played.
All other Ties: (1) Modified Median, (2) Solkoff, (3) Cummulative, (4) Opp. cumulative (5) Median, (6) Kashdan (7) Sonnerborn-Berger
An awards ceremony will be held at the conclusion of each section.
Concessions will be sold on-site.
Players are encouraged to bring their own chess clocks; a limited number of clocks will be available for those without.

Turkey Bowl Chess Tournament
Shelby County Chess Presents its 2023 Turkey Bowl Scholastic Chess Tournament

Location: Bodine School '(2432 Yester Oaks Dr, Germantown)
Time: Registration begins at 8:30am First Round begins at 9:00am All Other Rounds ASAP (Estimated Finish: 1:30pm)
Cost: $20 online by November 10th $25 thereafter and on-site
Format: 4 Rounds Swiss G25; d5 NO ELIMINATIONS! Each player will receive 25 minutes to complete their game. All players play 4 games guaranteed.
Sections: 5 Scholastic Sections:
Rated (Requires USCF Membership) Rated Over 900, Rated Under 900, Rated Under 500
Unrated (No Membership Required) Unrated Grades K-4, Unrated Grades 5-12
Prizes: All players regardless of standing will receive a Turkey themed prize. The Top 3 in each section will receive a trophy.
Lunch/Snacks will be available for purchase on-site
Students who have their own chess sets/clocks are encouraged to bring those to the event.
